A coalition of concerned citizens from Jalingo Local Government Area has formally called on Hon. Sale Sa’ad, Chairman of the Taraba State Committee on Palliative, to contest for the Chairmanship of Jalingo Local Government in the upcoming November 2025 Local Government elections.
The passionate appeal, read by Hon. Muhammad Ishaku on July 1, 2025, during a gathering of stakeholders, youths, women groups, and elders, marked a significant political development ahead of the polls.
The event, held at Camp Lavet Hotel, Jalingo, saw an outpouring of support from various segments of society, all united in their desire for a new chapter of visionary and inclusive leadership.
In his speech, Hon. Ishaku described governance as a sacred responsibility requiring tested and trusted individuals with competence, emotional intelligence, and a genuine commitment to the public good.
According to him, Jalingo, being the capital of Taraba State, deserves a leader with a clear vision, impeccable track record, and the courage to confront the challenges facing the local government.
“Jalingo remains the political hub and nerve of Taraba State. It is too important to be left in the hands of ineffective leadership,” Ishaku declared.
The Concerned Citizens highlighted growing disenchantment with the outgoing administration’s alleged nepotism, lopsided appointments, and failure to foster unity among the diverse ethnic and social groups in the area.
The group lamented the current disharmony and marginalization that have weakened economic and social cohesion in the LGA, stating that following wide consultations, opinion polls, and feedback from residents across the 10 political wards of Jalingo, Hon. Sale Sa’ad emerged as the most suitable candidate to restore trust, unity, and development.
“Hon. Sale Sa’ad has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and inclusive governance. He is a bridge-builder and a leader with proven integrity,” the statement noted.
A former Member of the Taraba State House of Assembly and Commissioner for Environment and Urban Development, Hon. Sa’ad was praised for his past contributions to the socio-economic development of Jalingo and Taraba State at large.
His recent work as Chairman of the State Palliative Committee was described as practical, transparent, and impactful—especially in enhancing food security.
According to the group, his leadership qualities, people-centered policies, and passion for mentoring youths make him the ideal candidate to lead Jalingo into a new era of progress.
“This election is more than just about selecting a leader—it’s about rescuing Jalingo from the brink and setting it on the path of equity, development, and unity,” they said.
The group concluded with an appeal to all indigenes and residents of Jalingo—irrespective of political, religious, or ethnic affiliation—to support the call for Hon. Sale Sa’ad’s candidacy.
“Now is the time to act. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a brighter, more just future for Jalingo Local Government.”
The call sets the stage for what may become one of the most keenly contested and significant local government elections in Taraba State in recent years. All eyes are now on Hon. Sale Sa’ad as residents await his official response to the mounting calls for his candidacy.
