Thousands of Muslims gathered at Afolahan Square Eid Ground, Jalingo Taraba State to observe Salatul Gha’ib, the absentee funeral prayer, in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The special prayer, held earlier today, was led by Imam Mustafa Nuhu Badamasi, Chief Iman of Police Command Headquarters Jummu’at Mosque who described the late president as a man who lived an exemplary life and served the nation with dignity.
Before leading the congregation, Imam Badamasi urged the Muslim Ummah to forgive the deceased and pray for Allah’s mercy upon his soul.
He also took a moment to highlight the religious and spiritual significance of Salatul Gha’ib, emphasizing its role in honoring departed souls, especially those not buried locally.
The prayer drew notable figures from across the state.
In an interview shortly after the prayer, Barrister Biliyaminu Maihanchi expressed deep sorrow, calling the passing of President Buhari a great national loss.
Also speaking, the Taraba State Public Relations Officer of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Abdulsalam Suleiman Modibbo, conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of Muslim students across the state describing the former president’s death as a moment of collective grief for the nation.
