The Aku Uka and Taraba State Chairman of the Traditional Council of Chiefs, Manu Ishaku Ada Ali, has urged the people of Gassol Chiefdom to shun violence and embrace unity for the sake of development.

The Aku Uka made the call during a courtesy visit by the Gassol Chiefdom Consultative Forum, during which he commended the prevailing peaceful coexistence in Gassol Local Government Area.

He described the visit as historic and appreciated the forum for the gesture, urging them to sustain the spirit of unity and peace.

Earlier, the chairman of the forum, Senator Ibrahim Goje Gassol, said the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the relationship between the people of Gassol and Wukari Local Government Areas.

Also speaking, a member of the forum, Dr. Haruna Hussaini Shumo Gassol, noted that the majority of the indigenous people of Gassol are descendants of the Kwararafa lineage.

He condemned calls by some individuals for the creation of Badija Chiefdom out of Gassol Chiefdom, warning that such agitation could trigger disunity and disrupt the long-standing peaceful coexistence among people of common ancestry.

Dr. Shumo emphasized that two chiefdoms—Sansani and Kwararafa—have already been carved out of Gassol.

He described any further attempt to create another chiefdom within the same area as unnecessary and potentially divisive.
