The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Taraba Sector Command, has expressed readiness to deepen collaboration with the media in order to enhance public awareness and road safety in the state.
Sector Commander Anna Attah made the commitment while receiving officials of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Taraba State Council, who paid her a courtesy visit on Wednesday.
The Commander noted that the media remains a vital partner in sensitizing citizens and shaping public behavior on road usage, stressing that stronger synergy would help save lives and reduce accidents.
“I am delighted to hear the purpose of this visit because it aligns with one of the main mandates of the Corp in this year 2025. When I came into office, I also toured some media houses in the state in the spirit of this collaboration you have mentioned.
“It is indeed important for us to collaborate because no man is an Island. Our job is very sensitive because it deals with saving lives so this synergy is key” She said.
The NUJ delegation was led by its Chairman, Comrade Matthew Eliud Jen, alongside Council Executives, Chapel Officials, and Publishers.
In his Remarks earlier, Jen said the visit was aimed at fostering mutual understanding between the Corps and the media to promote security and public enlightenment.
He noted that the activities of agencies can only be amplified through the media, however, the media will also not remain silent when there are issues to addressed.
“I also acknowledge the efforts of this Corps in ensuring that our road are safe and people abide by laid down guidelines.” Jen said.
Members who contributed during the engagement commended the FRSC for its initiatives that which are geared towards ensuring that road users remain safe.
Some noted issues of proliferation of motor parks within the metropolis, overloading of passengers in small vehicles and overspeeding, warning of the dangers of such menace.
They called on the Corps to intensify efforts on ensuring that such issues are properly addressed.
The Sector Commander assured the NUJ that the Corp will not relent in its efforts and looks forward to a good working relationship with the media.
