The Chairman of the Taraba State Bureau For Peace And Conflict Management (TSBPCM), Bishop Innocent Solomon has cautioned Clergies to guard against utterances that are capable of tearing society apart.

The Bureau Chairman was speaking against the backdrop of recent utterances for or against the pronouncement of government regarding and respecting the reconciliation process that has been achieved between the two UMCN factions that have overcome over 12 years of misunderstanding and acrimony amongst them and between them.

According to him, “the Bureau notes the concerns expressed in various quarters and emphasizes the importance of allowing lawful and institutional processes to address all issues in a manner that preserves harmony and mutual respect.”

The Bishop stresssed that as a non-partisan body established by the state government to promote peacebuilding and conflict prevention, the Bureau reiterates its commitment to neutrality and to supporting constructive engagement among all parties.

” The Bureau encourages dialogue, understanding, and adherence to due process as the most effective paths toward lasting resolution.

“The creation  of the Taraba State Bureau For Peace And Conflict Management and the appointment of several key players in the peace building architecture in the state,  is a testament to the fact that Dr Agbu Kefas’ administration is irrefutably committed to building a peaceful, united and secured Taraba which should be supported by all.

“Inciting and inflammatory statements and threats of violence coming from the clergy and leading Religious leaders are counter productive and totally negates the duty of a clergy of being model of the followership, custodians of the sacred tenets and trust of  God’s love to the World and message of peace to humanity

“The Bureau further reminds all leaders of faith and influence that their voices carry significant responsibility and should therefore be used to foster unity, tolerance, and coexistence. Statements that may be interpreted as inflammatory or divisive risk escalating tensions and undermining collective efforts toward peace.” The Bishop said.

The Chairman reiterated that the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management, as a body established by Taraba State Government remains available to facilitate dialogue where necessary and urges all stakeholders to prioritize peaceful engagement as the state continues to pursue stability, reconciliation, and sustainable development.
