Taraba Peace Bureau Maps out  Strategies to Deepen Conflict Prevention Statewide.

The Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management has outlined series of strategic measures for 2026 aimed at reinforcing conflict prevention systems, enhancing early response mechanisms  and expanding peacebuilding interventions across Taraba State.

Chairman of the Bureau, Bishop Innocent Rubiruka Solomon, said the roadmap is designed to consolidate the agency’s gains while scaling up systems, partnerships, and community-based initiatives to ensure lasting peace in the state.

The Bureau also announced plans to establish Early Warning and Early Response structures at ward and local government headquarters to facilitate prompt reporting and resolution of emerging disputes.

According to the Chairman, the strategy prioritizes grassroots engagement, evidence-based programming, and strengthened collaboration with stakeholders, emphasizing that sustainable peace depends on trust-building and timely interventions at community level.

“We will strengthen our knowledge management frameworks so that we can effectively share more positive experiences and learnings with partners within and outside the State.

“We are committed to thorough community engagement through improved coordination, stronger partnerships, evidence-based programming and more responsive peacebuilding interventions. This is about collaborating in doing peacebuilding that will guaranteed better, smarter and more sustainable results and impact.

“The days and months ahead offer an opportunity for us to consolidate gains, deepen trust with communities and stakeholders, and scale up the quality of peacebuilding interventions across Taraba State.

“The Bureau remains firmly committed to professionalism, accountability and result-driven actions in advancing its mandate as we keep working towards a united, peaceful, secure and all inclusive Taraba state in harmony with the rest of the world”. The Bishop stated.

The itinerary for the Bureau’s sensitization visits to Gassol, Wukari and Ibi Local Government Areas schedule to hold between the 16th and 20th of February 2026 was also released.

Bishop Solomon described the coming year as a critical phase for institutional growth, noting that the Bureau intends to reinforce its operational structures, improve coordination frameworks, and deploy more data-driven approaches to conflict prevention.

Meanwhile, Governor Agbu Kefas has commended the initiative, expressing confidence that the proposed measures will strengthen peaceful coexistence and enhance security across the state.

The commendation was conveyed in an official communication signed by Abdulkadir A. Haruna, Permanent Secretary, General Services on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, indicating the administration’s support for the Bureau’s programme of action.
